Android Developer - Oldham - Hybrid (3 days onsite)

An established technology company in Oldham is looking for an Android Developer to join its software team as it develops a new generation of Android-based products.

The company develops technology and hardware used by customers internationally and has built Android applications internally for a number of years. Historically, these have primarily been supporting and reference applications used alongside its devices.

That's now changing.

Android is becoming an increasingly important part of its product offering, particularly around a new range of payment devices, and they're looking for someone with strong commercial Android experience to join the team.

You'll initially work on a new Android-based payment product, helping to develop the application layer before progressing into integration with payment functionality, peripheral devices and other hardware.

They're particularly interested in someone who has worked on production-quality Android applications and understands the standards, testing and development practices required to take an Android product from development through to commercial use.

You'll be joining an established software and firmware function, so there are plenty of experienced engineers around you, but you'll bring commercial Android knowledge that will complement the existing team.

What they're looking for

• Around 2-5 years' commercial Android development experience
• Experience building production Android applications
• Strong understanding of the Android ecosystem and modern development practices
• Experience integrating applications with APIs, external services or devices
• An understanding of testing and how to build reliable commercial Android applications
• Comfortable working as part of a wider software and hardware engineering environment

Experience working with payments, payment integrations, payment devices or other hardware/peripheral integrations would be particularly useful, although we're also interested in strong Android Developers from other commercial backgrounds.

The role is based in Oldham with an initial expectation of around three days per week onsite.

Salary is up to £52,000, although there may be some flexibility for an exceptional candidate.
