About the Role
FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Finance Data Governance Business Analyst to support our consultancy client and their end client, a leading Life Sciences organisation, on a strategic finance data transformation programme. You will play a key role in improving the way finance data is governed, managed, and consumed across the organisation, helping to establish robust data governance frameworks, improve data quality, and enable better reporting and decision-making.
This is an initial 12-month engagement with an ASAP start. The role is primarily London-based, with attendance expected 2-3 days per week across the end client and consultancy offices, although some flexibility can be accommodated.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Business Analysts with a strong background in Finance Transformation, Data Governance, and Finance Data Management who enjoy working across business and technology teams to drive meaningful change within a highly regulated environment.
About the Role
We are seeking a Finance Data Governance Business Analyst to support a significant finance transformation initiative focused on strengthening data governance, improving data quality, and enhancing the management of finance data across the enterprise.
You will work closely with Finance stakeholders, Data Governance teams, technology specialists, and business users to understand current-state processes, define future-state governance frameworks, and support the implementation of improved finance data management practices.
The role will combine business analysis, stakeholder management, change facilitation, and finance process expertise. You will help define data ownership models, governance standards, controls, and operating procedures that enable trusted financial reporting, analytics, and decision-making across the organisation.
You will operate within a multidisciplinary transformation programme, supporting the delivery of governance improvements while ensuring alignment with regulatory, audit, and compliance requirements within a complex and highly regulated industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed analysis of current-state finance data processes, controls, and governance practices
- Engage with Finance, Data Governance, Reporting, and Business stakeholders to understand challenges, requirements, and business objectives
- Elicit, document, and validate business, functional, and data governance requirements
- Facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews, and governance working groups
- Define and document finance data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures
- Support the establishment of data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models across finance functions
- Analyse finance data quality issues and identify root causes and improvement opportunities
- Document finance data flows, data lineage, business rules, and control frameworks
- Support the implementation of finance reporting and analytics solutions through effective governance practices
- Collaborate with technology, data, and finance teams to align governance requirements with solution designs
- Produce business analysis documentation including process maps, requirements specifications, governance artefacts, and operating model documentation
- Support change management, stakeholder engagement, and adoption activities across the transformation programme
- Proven experience working as a Business Analyst within Finance Transformation, Finance Data, Data Governance, or Analytics programmes
- Strong understanding of finance processes, financial reporting, and finance data management
- Experience defining and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and controls
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across Finance, Technology, Data, and Business teams
- Strong requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation capabilities
- Experience facilitating workshops, interviews, and governance forums
- Knowledge of data quality management, data ownership, stewardship, and data lifecycle principles
- Experience documenting business processes, data flows, governance models, and operating procedures
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex business and data challenges
- Experience working within regulated environments with strong control and compliance requirements
- Ability to operate independently and manage multiple stakeholder groups within large transformation programmes
Nice to Have
- Experience working within Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, Healthcare, Financial Services, or other highly regulated sectors
- Understanding of SOX-controlled environments and financial compliance frameworks
- Experience supporting finance transformation or enterprise data transformation programmes
- Knowledge of data management frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK or industry-standard data governance practices
- Experience with finance reporting, analytics, business intelligence, or data warehousing initiatives
- Exposure to Master Data Management (MDM), metadata management, or data lineage tooling
- Familiarity with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics Finance
- Experience supporting target operating model design and organisational change initiatives
- Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies and working within multidisciplinary transformation teams
- Exposure to enterprise data platforms, data governance technologies, or finance data modernisation programmes
