Our client is a fast-growing technology business providing digital solutions to a broad range of retail organisations. With an established presence across the UK and growing international markets, the business is continuing to expand its technology and design capabilities.

As part of this growth, they are looking to appoint a Web UX/UI Designer with a strong ecommerce focus to join their IT Design & Development function.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of the design and development of high-quality, responsive ecommerce websites, working closely with retail clients to create digital experiences that are visually engaging, intuitive and commercially effective.

The successful candidate will combine strong design capability with an understanding of web technologies, UX principles and ecommerce best practice. You will also have the opportunity to explore and introduce new AI-powered tools and technologies that improve both the customer experience and the efficiency of the wider team.

• Design and deliver new ecommerce websites and enhancements for existing client sites.
• Translate client requirements and briefs into engaging, intuitive and commercially focused digital experiences.
• Ensure websites are responsive, consistent and optimised across desktop, tablet and mobile.
• Apply modern UX/UI principles throughout the design and delivery process.
• Ensure client branding and identity are accurately represented across all digital touchpoints.
• Manage projects through to completion, working within agreed deadlines and quality standards.

• Work directly with clients to understand their requirements, objectives and priorities.
• Contribute to discovery sessions, client briefs and onboarding meetings.
• Build strong working relationships and act as a trusted source of digital and web expertise.
• Provide recommendations that can help clients improve their websites, customer journeys and commercial performance.
• Complete ongoing design and development work for an existing portfolio of retail clients.
• Keep client websites current, engaging and aligned with evolving ecommerce trends.

• Respond to web-related support requests and client queries in a professional and timely manner.
• Thoroughly test changes and solutions before they are delivered to clients.
• Keep clients updated throughout projects and ensure appropriate approval and sign-off is achieved.
• Work closely with internal support teams to provide guidance on web-related queries.
• Balance multiple projects, clients and priorities while maintaining a consistently high standard of work.

• Use Google Analytics and similar tools to monitor and understand website performance.
• Interpret data and user behaviour to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Use performance insights to influence design decisions and client recommendations.
• Produce clear, practical reporting for internal teams and clients where required.
• Consider factors such as Core Web Vitals, usability and site performance throughout the design process.

• Explore and assess emerging AI technologies and tools that could benefit the design and development function.
• Develop and implement AI-powered tools and widgets to improve team productivity and efficiency.
• Document new processes and technologies and share knowledge with colleagues.
• Support the wider team through training, guidance and the sharing of best practice.
• Stay current with developments across web design, ecommerce, UX/UI and emerging technology.
• Continuously develop your own technical and creative skill set.

• Around 4+ years' experience within web design, ecommerce or a similar digital environment.
• Proven experience delivering web projects against defined client briefs.
• Experience managing multiple projects or accounts at the same time.
• Strong working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Experience using design tools such as Figma or Adobe Creative Suite.
• Solid understanding of UX/UI principles and modern web design practices.
• Knowledge of Core Web Vitals and website performance.
• Excellent attention to detail and a strong eye for design.
• Confident communication skills with experience working directly with clients.
• Able to organise and prioritise your own workload effectively.
• A collaborative approach and willingness to share knowledge with others.
• A genuine interest in learning new technologies and developing your expertise.

• Previous experience designing websites for retail businesses.
• Experience in a client-facing, account management or agency-style environment.
• Familiarity with SEO platforms such as Google Search Console or SEMrush.
• Experience working with Google Analytics or similar analytics platforms.
• Exposure to AI tools, automation or AI-assisted workflows.
• Understanding of WCAG and web accessibility standards.
• An interest in emerging technologies and digital innovation.
