We’re working with an established and growing business based in Hertfordshire that is looking to appoint an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function.

Working closely with the CFO and senior leadership team, this is a hands-on role with a strong focus on leading and developing the finance team, improving processes and ensuring the business has accurate, timely financial information to support decision-making.

The business has grown considerably over recent years, making this a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working within an SME environment where they can have genuine ownership and make an impact.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading and managing the day-to-day finance function and supporting the development of the wider finance team
• Overseeing month-end and ensuring accurate and timely management accounts
• Managing cash flow, budgeting and forecasting
• Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining strong financial controls
• Overseeing transactional finance including AP, AR and credit control
• Supporting VAT returns, year-end processes and external audit requirements
• Providing meaningful financial information and commentary to the senior leadership team
• Reviewing existing processes and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, controls and reporting
• Supporting the wider business with ad hoc commercial and financial projects

The ideal candidate:

• Previous experience operating at Finance Manager, Financial Controller or similar level within an SME environment
• Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience
• Confident managing and developing a finance team
• Comfortable remaining hands-on while also taking ownership of the wider function
• Strong Excel and accounting systems experience
• Commercially minded with the confidence to work closely with senior stakeholders
• A proactive, down-to-earth approach and comfortable working within a growing business
• Qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience candidates will be considered depending on experience
