R&D Engineer/Technologist (Materials Science/ Chemistry)

£40,000 - £43,000 + 25 days Holiday plus Statutory Bank Holidays + Auto Enrol Pension + Company Benefits

Stoke-on-Trent (Commutable from: Newcastle-under-Lyme, Crewe, Stafford, Nantwich, Stone, Congleton, Macclesfield)

Are you an Engineer/ Technologist looking to lead cradle-to-grave development work to make a genuine impact on the product range, performance and future growth of the business? Do you have a materials science, chemistry, ceramics or metallurgy background and the curiosity to explore and test new materials?

This is a permanent, on-site role with a long-established British manufacturer known for product quality and global reach. You'll be given the chance to take ownership of new concepts and drive them through trials into real-world manufacture.

The business is investing in its brand, people and facilities, with ambitious plans for growth, new markets, and wider manufacturing processes. You'll join an environment where innovation is valued, ideas are tested properly, and your technical input directly shapes new products.

Working with the engineering & technical team, you'll research and develop new materials/processes, plan, and run laboratory/pilot/production trials, evaluate suppliers and raw materials, analyse technical data, and work closely with stakeholders to help launch new products and processes.

This role suits an innovative & technically-driven person looking for an opportunity to make their mark, creating new products & processes.

The Role:

  • Lead and support product/material development projects from concept through to production
  • Plan, conduct and evaluate laboratory, pilot and production trials on-site in Newcastle-under-Lyme
  • Full-time permanent position, on-site working.

The Person:

  • Degree-level background in Chemistry, Materials Science, Ceramics, Metallurgy or similar scientific discipline
  • Experience in R&D / product development / materials development within a manufacturing environment
  • Genuine enthusiasm for innovation and exploring new materials, with strong analytical problem-solving skills
  • Full driving license
