About the Role

Integration & Test Analyst

  • Worcestershire
  • Permanent
  • Hybrid Working
  • Salary £40,000-£45,000
  • Build it. Connect it. Test it. Prove it works.
  • This is a great opportunity for someone who understands both sides of the equation.
  • You know how systems need to connect, how data should move between them and, just as importantly, how to test that everything is actually working as it should.
  • You will sit across a growing ecommerce environment, working with platforms including Magento, payment providers and reporting tools.
  • There is a busy programme of ecommerce and website projects ahead, so you will be involved in plenty of new integrations and changes. Your role will be to understand what needs to happen, help define how systems should interact and then test those integrations thoroughly before they reach customers.

What will you actually be doing?

  • Analyse how different systems connect and how data moves between them
  • Define integration requirements and specifications for development teams and suppliers
  • Test APIs, webhooks and system integrations using tools such as Postman
  • Build test scenarios around both the expected journey and what happens when things go wrong
  • Test the full ecommerce lifecycle including orders, payments, refunds, customers, products, tax and promotions
  • Trace transactions between systems to make sure data is being passed correctly
  • Use SQL, logs and browser developer tools to investigate problems
  • Reproduce defects and provide clear evidence to developers and suppliers
  • Build and maintain regression tests, test data and automated tests
  • Make sure new developments do not break existing functionality
  • Identify gaps, edge cases and potential failure points before they become live problems
  • Work closely with developers, agencies, hosting providers and software suppliers
  • Challenge suppliers where their solution, testing or estimates do not stand up
  • Help improve the overall approach to integration and testing across the business

This isn't just executing test scripts. You will need to understand what you are testing and why.

  • You might be looking at an order moving from the website into the ERP, checking what happens when a payment fails, investigating why a webhook has not fired or proving that customer and order data remains consistent across multiple systems.
  • You will be expected to get into the detail yourself rather than simply logging an issue and handing it over.
  • That means being comfortable with APIs, SQL, logs, technical traffic and the underlying data.
  • What we're looking for
  • You will have experience working with system integrations and testing within ecommerce.

You will be comfortable with:

  • Ecommerce platforms and transactional processes
  • Postman or similar API testing tools
  • SQL and database interrogation
  • Automated and regression testing
  • Investigating issues using logs and browser developer tools
  • Writing clear requirements, integration specifications and test documentation
  • Working with developers and external suppliers

You will also need the curiosity to ask "what happens if..." and the technical confidence to find out.

The opportunity:

  • This is a role where you can have real ownership.
  • You will be at the point where integration, development and testing meet, helping make sure new functionality works properly across the whole ecosystem rather than just within one individual system.
  • There is plenty coming up to get your teeth into, but there is also scope to improve how the business approaches integration and testing more broadly.
  • If you are someone who enjoys understanding how systems fit together and then making absolutely sure they work, this could be a very good fit.
