Our mission is to work collaboratively as a family of great schools, strong in faith and serving society.

About the role:

As part of our continued investment in digital transformation and innovation, we are seeking an experienced IT professional to join us as an IT Engineer Degree Apprentice. This is an exciting opportunity to combine higher-level academic study with practical experience, supporting our schools and contributing to the development of a modern, secure and reliable IT environment.

You will work closely with our Central IT Team and Cluster IT Managers to support the delivery of IT services across multiple schools within the Trust. This role offers real responsibility from day one and the opportunity to develop advanced technical, project management and leadership skills while completing a degree apprenticeship.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing first-line and second-line technical support to staff and students

  • Managing and resolving helpdesk tickets in line with service standards

  • Installing, maintaining and repairing IT hardware, software and peripherals

  • Supporting Microsoft 365, Windows desktop environments and cloud-based services

  • Assisting with network, server and telephony troubleshooting

  • Supporting cybersecurity, safeguarding and data protection compliance requirements

  • Maintaining IT asset registers, documentation and inventories

  • Supporting SharePoint development and digital collaboration platforms

  • Assisting with project delivery, including infrastructure upgrades and technology rollouts

  • Monitoring and maintaining backup, disaster recovery and business continuity processes

  • Working across multiple school sites, providing responsive and professional technical support

  • Supporting the implementation of the Trust's IT strategy and continuous improvement initiatives

Desirable skills:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, Windows 10/11 and cloud technologies

  • Understanding of networking concepts and IT infrastructure

  • Experience with IT service desk environments

  • Ability to produce clear documentation and technical reports

  • Awareness of cybersecurity and data protection principles

  • Experience of supporting Windows operating systems and end-user devices

  • Full UK driving licence or willingness to travel between Trust schools

Entry requirements:

Standard entry requirements:

  • Full-time employment in a relevant role

  • Level 3 qualifications in STEM subjects (e.g., 2 A Levels, BTEC Diplomas, Apprenticeship, or equivalent)

Non-standard entry with work experience:

Relevant qualifications and/or work experience will be considered for applicants with potential to benefit from the programme.

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
