Job Purpose

The ITAD Refurbishment Technician is responsible for refurbishing, repairing, testing and

preparing IT equipment for resale or redeployment. The role ensures all equipment is

processed safely, securely and in accordance with company procedures, customer

requirements and applicable standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO/IEC 27001.

Key Responsibilities

- Receive and inspect incoming IT equipment.

- Identify equipment specifications and record asset information accurately.

- Perform diagnostic testing on laptops, desktops, monitors and other IT equipment.

- Repair or replace faulty components including:

o RAM

o SSD/HDD

o Keyboards

o Batteries

o Screens

o Cooling systems

o Power supplies

-- Install and configure operating systems where required.

- Carry out BIOS and firmware updates.

- Ensure all devices have successfully completed approved data sanitisation

processes before refurbishment.

- Perform cosmetic refurbishment including cleaning and minor repairs.

- Grade equipment in accordance with company grading standards.

- Complete functional quality control testing before release.

- Package equipment to company standards for storage or dispatch.

- Maintain accurate refurbishment records using company systems.

- Report damaged or non-repairable equipment.

- Assist with inventory control and stock accuracy.

Skills and Experience

Essential

- Experience repairing PCs and laptops.

- Good understanding of computer hardware.

- Ability to diagnose hardware faults.

- Knowledge of Windows installation and configuration.

- Strong attention to detail.

- Good organisational skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable

- Previous ITAD or electronics refurbishment experience.

- CompTIA A+ or equivalent technical qualification.- Experience with asset management software.

- Experience using data erasure software.

- Knowledge of ISO management systems.

Physical Requirements

The role involves:

- Standing for extended periods.

- Manual handling of IT equipment.

- Lifting equipment in accordance with manual handling guidelines.

- Using hand tools and diagnostic equipment.

- Working at refurbishment benches.
