Python Developer

We're working with an established, technology-driven organisation looking to appoint an experienced Senior Software Engineer (Python) to join its engineering team. You'll play a key role in the design, development, testing and ongoing improvement of business-critical software solutions, working closely with engineers, product teams and wider stakeholders. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll take responsibility for delivering high-quality software solutions across complex technology environments.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing, developing and maintaining reliable, scalable applications using Python.
• Taking ownership of software design, implementation, testing and ongoing operation.
• Developing and enhancing existing products, services and internal tooling.
• Tackling complex technical problems and delivering practical, maintainable solutions.
• Applying test-driven development (TDD), automated testing and software quality best practices.
• Collaborating with Product Owners, Product Managers and other stakeholders to deliver technical roadmaps.
• Contributing to architectural decisions, technical planning and continuous improvement.
• Providing technical guidance, mentoring and support to other engineers.
• Ensuring software changes are delivered effectively, with consideration for reliability, performance and long-term maintainability.

Essential experience:

• Strong commercial software engineering experience, with Python as a core programming language.
• Proven experience designing and developing reliable, scalable applications.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, design principles and engineering best practices.
• Strong experience with automated testing, TDD and software quality assurance.
• Familiarity with modern development frameworks, databases and deployment processes.
• Experience working in complex technical environments.
• Ability to investigate and resolve challenging technical issues independently.
• Experience collaborating with Product Owners, engineering teams and wider business stakeholders.
• Confidence influencing technical decisions and providing guidance to other developers.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

You'll be someone who enjoys writing clean, maintainable code and takes pride in delivering software that performs reliably.

You'll be comfortable working independently, taking responsibility for technical outcomes and contributing to wider engineering discussions.
